Jonathan Lurie He/Him

Jonathan Lurie leads Smithbucklin’s strategic planning efforts, helping clients set goals and build flexible plans for success. He has guided boards and staff through the planning process, bringing alignment across leadership Over his tenure, he has shaped Smithbucklin’s planning approach by using methods from across the association industry. Jonathan facilitates and tailors each strategic plan to meet each clients’ needs.  

Jonathan also leads Smithbucklin’s Association Excellence Program (AXP℠), supporting boards and executive directors through conversations around priorities and opportunities for improvement. He works with executive directors and uses research, benchmarking and analysis to inform multi-year planning and board effectiveness training.  

Jonathan joined Smithbucklin in 1999 and served as executive director for multiple clients. He is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and contributes to its ForesightWorks research initiatives.  

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
