Aug. 7, 2023

CHICAGO – Smithbucklin announced today they were chosen by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB), AHRA: The Association for Medical Imaging Management, and the AHRA Education Foundation as the new association management partner for all four distinct healthcare organizations.

Medical-surgical nursing is the single largest nursing specialty in the U.S.; AMSN represents more than 10,000 medical-surgical nurses and MSNCB recognizes nearly 40,000 certified medical-surgical nurses. AHRA represents 5,000 members who are responsible for the management and purchasing power of all levels of hospital imaging departments and freestanding imaging centers, including leadership within some of the most highly-rated hospitals and healthcare institutions across the U.S.

Jim McNeil, president of association management at Smithbucklin, credits Smithbucklin’s unparalleled depth and breadth of resources, expertise with healthcare and nursing specialty organizations, and recognized expert knowledge and experience managing credentialing programs for these promising new client partnerships.

“Smithbucklin’s extensive experience serving healthcare organizations, and nursing specialty organizations in particular, gives us so much to draw on in thinking through the challenges and opportunities for AMSN, MSNCB, AHRA, and the AHRA Education Foundation. We are confident that our expertise, talent, scale, and sophistication in association management will benefit each organization and help accelerate its success,” said McNeil.

AMSN and MSNCB will be led by Matt Fenwick, MBA, who most recently served as chief operating officer for the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, an affiliate of the American Hospital Association. An accomplished executive director will be selected by AHRA and the AHRA Education Foundation soon. All four organizations will leverage Smithbucklin for complete association management solutions, including strategic direction, leading operational practices, association programming, and revenue growth to create a thriving environment for success.

“The AMSN and MSNCB Board of Directors selected Smithbucklin because we were thoroughly impressed with their commitment to professionalism, attention to detail, dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and deep expertise in efficient association headquarters operations, innovation, and strategic thinking,” said Dr. Marisa Streelman, president of AMSN. “We look forward to a successful partnership with Smithbucklin to advance the missions of AMSN and MSNCB to achieve growth and reach for both organizations.”

“From the initial conversation, it was clear that Smithbucklin has a strong commitment to growing AHRA and creating additional member value,” said Becky Allen, CRA, AHRA president. “The AHRA Board of Directors and the AHRA Education Foundation look forward to partnering with the passionate team at Smithbucklin to define and achieve success for the future.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome AMSN, MSNCB, AHRA, and the AHRA Education Foundation as partners to our company and for them to immediately find a home within our collaborative network organizing model. We’re excited to learn from and share with each of these new organizations and to demonstrate Smithbucklin’s commitment to innovation and excellence in professional association management,” said Matt Sanderson, president & CEO, Smithbucklin.

The association management partnership with AMSN and MSNCB took effect this spring, and AHRA and the AHRA Education Foundation will transition this fall.
