Boost Engagement and Attendance with Effective Infographics

Boost Engagement and Attendance with Effective Infographics

by Gina Brennan

September 26, 2023

Creating an infographic can be a powerful way to convey information in a visually engaging manner to the target audience of your association’s event. Infographics are also a great way to advertise for upcoming events, tradeshows, webinars, and more. However, it is important to ensure that your infographic effectively communicates your organization’s mission, as well as the important details about the event you want to highlight. Here are four tips for creating effective infographics to boost engagement with your promotional content and attendance at your next event.

Define your approach

Clearly identify the purpose of your infographic by detailing what information your organization wants to convey about its event. You want to be mindful of not giving away too much about the event, which makes an infographic an excellent medium for catching attendees’ attention and enticing them to come to your event. Additionally, properly defining the purpose of your infographic allows you to formulate a theme or message that best represents your organization’s mission.

Keep your content concise

A key component of creating an effective infographic for your association is to design something that is both concise and visually appealing. Use text on your infographic to convey key takeaways and eliminate unnecessary details that may clutter the design. But remember to keep it brief; infographics are not the place for paragraphs of text. Consider key words, phrases, and best of all—numbers—to make it quick and easy for readers to digest.

Consider including the following on your next infographic, if applicable:

  • Your organization’s name, logo, and mission statement.
  • Details about your organization’s event, tradeshow, or webinar, including the date, time, and location. Be sure to hyperlink to your Zoom if the event is virtual and keep time zones in mind.
  • Brief bullet points highlighting key topics of discussion or important guest speakers.
  • Any impactful statistics from the event in years prior that will draw attendees in.

Use high-quality visuals

Just as the text is important, so is the visual component of the infographic. Visual elements like logos can make your infographic more eye-catching and engaging, so it is important to ensure your visuals are high-quality, relevant to the event being advertised, and positively contribute to the overall message. It is also important to pay attention to details like using a color palette and style that is consistent with your organization’s branding and messaging.

Make it accessible

The goal of your infographic is to convey information and attract attendees to your next event, which means you will want to market it to as many relevant industries and professionals as possible. In doing so, it is critical that your infographic is accessible to all audiences. You can use alt text for images and charts to describe content, as well as choose readable fonts with an adequate font size.
